Each year HBPG aim to improve environmental performance
through reducing or better controlling our environmental impact. For the period
of April 2007 - March 2008 our environmental objectives are as follows:
HBPG recognises the need to be aware of the impact we have on the environment and the risk to our employees Health and Safety. We work to an Environmental Management System, which has been certified to ISO 14001 since Sept 2004 and we are currently working towards certification of our Health and Safety Management system to OHSAS 18001.
Our Safety and Environment Team report directly to our Managing Director, who is our board member with responsibility for the environment.
Our systems provide us with a framework through which we are able
to identify our most significant impacts, hazards and the risks and
opportunities associated to them. Objectives and Targets are then set to address the areas of required improvement in order of priority.
Training and raising awareness has been a key part of our success. All of our employees receive training through an SEQ induction, giving an overview of our systems and main risks, which is then followed by task training. This ensures that employees understand their roles and involvement in the systems.
We have started what we believe to be a never ending process of continuous improvement. Regular audits are scheduled to help ensure that our systems continue to function and where processes fail to meet both internal and external customer expectations, we aim to implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate the possibility of re-occurrence.
